ABOUT AHMED RASHID:
Ahmed Rashid is Pakistani journalist and writer. He is the author of Taliban (2000), which was was on the New York Times bestseller list for five weeks.
The recipient of the Nisar Osmani award for courage in journalism, Ahmed Rashid is the Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia correspondent for Far Eastern Economic Review and the Daily Telegraph.
He also writes for the Wall Street Journal and The Nation.
He is a fellow at the Pacific Council of International Policy. His latest book is Descent into Chaos: The American Challenge in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia.
