"The Tamagawa University Dance and Taiko Group has performed around the world for decades, introducing new audiences to Japanese performing folk arts to build mutual understanding and international cultural exchange.
"Over 30 performers offer a wide repertoire that features traditional Japanese dance and taiko performances from several regions and cities of Japan.
"Many of the dances represent traditional themes – harvest celebrations, paying respect to the gods and honoring ancestors.
"Several styles will be performed, including zashiki-mai, traditionally performed by geishas at a banquet, as well as a dance typically seen in kabuki theater.
"At 1 pm see and hear an exilerating taiko drum performance, followed at 3 pm by an hour-long performance featuring 10 individual dance pieces."
