This exhibition is a retrospective of travel photography by Stephan Brigidi, featuring works in silver-gelatin fiber and ciba-chrome. Both color as well as black and white images will be included.

Driven by his desire to better understand his own culture, Brigidi has spent considerable amounts of time in Italy.

Included are works from Brigidi’s book, Angels of Pompeii, capturing the beauty of the caves and ruins of Pompeii, Italy, where he found himself captivated by the frescoes of angels on the decayed walls of the famed city upon his first visit there in 1972.

As a recipient of a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship, Brigidi spent time in Venice during the late 1970s. The images that chronicle his time spent there are poignant and show the discipline of a highly-skilled artist.

In addition to the opening reception on Thursday, October 16, Gallery Z will host our monthly Food, Art & Wine event on the final Thursday of the month, October 30, from 5:30 – 8:00pm.
