NEWz editor's note: Brazilian immigrants paid Massachusetts Enterprise, a shipping company, to send their packages to Brazil. Allegedly the company never shipped the boxes or refunded the customers.

Joe Edwards, a resident of Stoughton, Mass., owns Massachusetts Enterprise, which has or had storage space in Stoughton and Marlborough, also in Massachusetts.

On March 21, 2008, Stoughton Police arrested Edwards and turned him over to Marlborough Police, who had a warrant for his arrest. What happened next to Edwards is unclear.

Shirley Farber of Bate Papo Magazine and cable TV show, based in Stoughton, has been following the case in Stoughton. She picks it up from here.

The following community announcement is from BatePapoMagazine.com, where it was posted July 5, 2008.

Today Stoughton Police found more than 70 boxes that were supposed to be shipped to Brazil by Massachusetts Enterprise at a storage on Canton Strett.

In the beginning of July the police found 50 boxes at the U-Haul Storage at RT. 138. Since then I have been writing articles, talking on my TV show and on various radio programs to let Brazilians know that they should pick up their boxes in Stoughton and file a complaint [with Stougton Police] for their lost boxes.

As we found out, there are many people that lost boxes with this company since April 2007. I am getting many calls and so is the Stoughton Police.

Since then I have spoken with various people that have given me information (unfortunately they are afraid to give information to the police to help the case) about this issue. Since then I have been telling the police that they should look for more boxes in Stoughton.

Some people were telling me that they saw boxes at a Canton Street store and they know some were at the [Stoughton home of] Joe Edward's mother. Joe Edward is the owner of Mass Enterprise and a Stoughton resident and he claims there are some boxes in Marlborough.

The detective in charge of the investigation, Al Romeiro, came back from vacation this week and I insisted with him to check again all places near 2 Canton St., were the Mass Enterprise office was located.

Today they found 70 boxes and now they are trying to match [the boxes] with the numbers that people gave when they called the police in this month of July.

I am just waiting for the police to give me the boxes' numbers so I can post them on my Web site so that people can go online and match the numbers with the ones they have on their [Mass. Enterprise] contracts.

This case is far from an end since there are too many people involved and still many boxes in Brazil that were not delivered. Also, it involves Brazilians in many towns and states here and in Brazil.

If you have any information that can help, please call the Stoughton Police at 781-344-2424.
